A practice
of returning.

Meditation is the simple practice of being present with what is happening now. You do not need to empty your mind, sit perfectly, or become someone different.

Begin simply

WHAT MEDITATION IS

Not an escape from life, but a quieter way of meeting it.

You notice. You wander. You return.

Thoughts will continue to appear. Sounds, sensations, memories, and plans may pull your attention away. This does not mean you are doing it incorrectly.

The moment you realise your attention has wandered, you can gently return. Each return is a small act of awareness—and the heart of meditation.

YOUR FIRST FIVE MINUTES

Begin with one breath.

Set aside five quiet minutes. A timer can help you let go of checking the clock. Then follow these four steps at your own pace.

01

Find a steady place

Sit in a way that feels supported. A chair, cushion, or the edge of a bed is enough.

02

Let the body settle

Rest your hands, soften your shoulders, and allow your eyes to close or lower gently.

03

Notice one breath

Feel the breath arrive and leave. There is no need to make it slower, deeper, or different.

04

Return without judgement

When the mind moves elsewhere, notice it and come back to the next breath. That return is the practice.

KEEPING IT SIMPLE

A little, returned to often.

Start shorter than you think

Two or five minutes can be enough. A practice becomes familiar through returning, not forcing.

Choose a gentle anchor

Use the breath, a sound, a repeated phrase, or sensations in the body—whatever helps you notice the present moment.

Let each day be different

Some sittings feel quiet and others feel busy. Neither one measures your progress or your worth.
